A creative concept to expand on Vans’ Always Out There campaign from July 2024. After analyzing the campaign’s performance, I developed recommendations that could have been applied to improve the campaign’s reception.
The Always Out There campaign focused on storytelling, promoting its retro sneaker collection while connecting the brand back to its roots in ‘90s skate culture. However, the campaign was primarily digital— exclusive to social media and lacked distinction from ongoing Vans campaigns.
I recommended that— in true ‘90s fashion— Vans’ revive print advertisements and redesign them to feature current skaters and sneaker styles. The result is a fun, nostalgic aesthetic that differentiates the campaign from others.
I designed two print ads using photographs from the Always Out There campaign featuring professional skater, Rio Morishige. I rendered the images with textures and effects in Photoshop, drawing inspiration from print advertisements from the ‘90s and early 2000s.
These advertisements were featured as creative concepts in a formal campaign analysis presentation.
